In a world filled with a vast variety of cocktails, it can be challenging for beginners to remember all the ingredients and mixing directions associated with each drink.
To address this issue, I designed a mobile app that simplifies the cocktail-making process. The app enables users to discover cocktail recipes based on the ingredients they currently have at home, making it easier for them to explore and create delightful drinks.
Recipe first or ingredients?
To better understand users' motivations and their approach to finding cocktail recipes, I conducted interviews. The key question was whether users preferred searching for recipes first or checking the availability of ingredients.
Findings revealed that most people, excluding professional bartenders, tend to search for cocktail recipes online or via mobile platforms. However, only about one-third of them plan ahead and then shop for the specific ingredients listed in the recipe.
The interviews revealed that, except for professional bartenders, most people tend to search for cocktail recipes online or via mobile apps. It was interesting to note that only about one-third of them plan ahead and specifically shop for the ingredients listed in the recipes they find.
Based on the research findings, I identified a clear need for a solution that helps users make cocktails using the ingredients they already have at home. This led to the development of the mobile app, which aims to streamline the process of cocktail creation and enhance the user experience.
The app's primary feature is a smart recipe search engine that takes into account the available ingredients and suggests suitable cocktail recipes accordingly. By leveraging a comprehensive database of cocktail recipes and an intelligent algorithm, the app eliminates the need for users to search through multiple sources or buy specific ingredients.
